Repeat Prescriptions

The Newland Surgery has its own in-house dispensary. Currently patients who live ovmulticolour_pillser a mile away from a pharmacy (as the crow flies) qualify to have their prescriptions filled here.

You will need a review at least annually. Please check with reception in advance of your birthday month about the annual tests and review appointment(s) that you will need to ensure your prescription is not delayed.

Patients can order repeat prescriptions by calling in at the surgery, on-line or by phoning the dispensary and speaking to the dispensary staff. The number to call is 01935 814486. Repeat prescription hours are Monday – Friday 08:30 – 11:00.

Please be aware that the Dispensary telephone lines are very busy and unfortunately we do not have the facility of an engaged tone, therefore it will keep ringing. Please be assured that we do have a dedicated member of staff answering the telephone between 08:30 and 11:00. If you can request your medication online we do advise this as it can be done day or night.

A request for a repeat prescription can also be made by post or fax using the request form attached to your prescription. This should be left in the repeat prescription box by the dispensary at the entrance to the surgery.

We are now using electronic prescribing. This means that your prescription (with the exception of controlled drugs such as tramadol, morphine or temazepam) can be sent to any chemist that accepts such prescriptions. This includes all the Sherborne, Yeovil and Milborne Port chemists.

Please note that in line with local policy we can only provide you with monthly prescriptions. If you are going to be away travelling, for example, for longer than 1 month and will require further medications please call the Dispensary between 8.30 and 11 to discuss your needs.

48_hoursPlease allow two working days for prescriptions to be ready. If you order your prescription over the weekend or a Bank Holiday please remember that it will take two working days from when the dispensary is next open before your medication will be ready.
